California Statute defines the amount of fees which an attorney and a personal representative may each charge to an estateThe assets and liabilities left behind by a decedent. for their ordinary services. The statute provides that both the attorney and the personal representative may charge: 1) 4% of the first $100,000 of gross value of the estate; 2) 3% of the second $100,000 of gross value of the estate; 3) 2% of the next $800,000 of the gross value of the estate; and 4) 1% of the next $900,000 of the gross value of the estate.
